Asamoah Gyan joins Al Ain

Al Ain have announced that they have signed the player

Asamoah Gyan has made a sensational season-long loan move to Al Ain according to the United Arab Emirates club’s official website.

Gyan was continuously linked with a move away from the Stadium of Light throughout the transfer window with Marseille, Tottenham and a host of Turkish clubs reported to be interested. However, no deal materialised and it appeared that the Ghanaian would remain at Sunderland.

“Since that game at Wembley, all the parasites, as I call them, hover around,” said manager Steve Bruce yesterday.

“People are in his ear constantly trying to engineer a deal for him. It's very difficult, the constant speculation no matter what you try to quash or quell, and the people around him, the people who want to make a fast buck, and it affects him in the end.

“We have had a discussion with him and he needs now to focus and get himself back on track again and be the Asamoah Gyan we know he is capable of.”

Gyan was set to miss this weekend’s game against Chelsea due to an injury picked up when on international duty. But, in a surprising twist of events Al Ain have now announced that they have signed the player on a season-long loan deal.

“Gyan is scheduled to arrive this evening at exactly twelve o'clock midnight, accompanied by HE Mohammed Abdullah bin Bdoh - Member of the Board of Directors of the club and the player will undergo a medical tomorrow morning,” read a statement on Al Ain’s website.

The Dubai club expect to announce details of the arrangement in the coming hours.
