B Munich v Villarreal: Bayern tryin to top group

Bayern have been notoriously fast starters this season

Bayern Munich host Villarreal at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night knowing a win will secure them top spot in the group with one game to spare. Villarreal have been awful in this year’s competition and are yet to pick up a point in the group. They have no realistic chance of even gaining a Europa League spot so have little to play for.

Given the fact that Villarreal virtually have nothing to play for they won’t want to risk anymore injuries to their depleted squad. They are missing both strikers in Giuseppe Rossi and Nilmar as well as midfielders Cani and Javier Camunas and defender Cristian Zapata. Bayern manager Jupp Heynckes is unlikely to make changes from the side that lost to Borussia Dortmund the weekend and Arjen Robben is expected to keep his place, meaning exciting youngster David Alaba will have to settle for a place on the bench.

Given the fact that Bayern are starting with their strongest line up available to them, Jupp Heynckes will want his side to make a fast start so that he can make changes later on and save some of his players from fatigue. So our selection will be Bayern Munich/Bayern Munich in the half time/full time betting.

Bayern have been notoriously fast starters this season and from the last four matches that they have won they have been leading at half time in all of them. Also from there last five home wins they have been leading at half time which includes two games in this competition against Man City and Napoli.

Villarreal on the other hand have been the complete opposite, from there last three defeats they have been losing at half time in all of them. This has been made worse by the fact that they have only managed one goal in the first half of their last six games and one goal in the first half of their last six games away from home. When the sides last met at Villarreal, it was Bayern who lead 1-0 at half time and they went on to win 2-0.
