Bayern Munich v Man City Betting

Bayern Munich have gone 838 minutes without conceding a goal

Manchester City make their first ever Champions League away trip this Tuesday evening, and there aren’t many more difficult places to go in Europe than the Allianz Arena.

Bayern Munich have gone an incredible 838 minutes without conceding a goal and have won their last nine consecutive games to nil. That includes a Champions League win over Villarreal and domestic victories over Schalke and Bayer Leverkusen.

Arjen Robben made a goalscoring return from the bench against Leverkusen at the weekend and could go straight into the starting XI here. Jerome Boateng is also expected to line-up in the centre of defence against his former club.

City are without the suspended Mario Balotelli but Nigel de Jong is in contention to make the bench having recovered from a foot injury. Owen Hargreaves was not included in Roberto Mancini’s 25-man squad so will not be involved.

Given Bayern’s exemplary start to the season it is no surprise to see them made the 5/6 favourites by Paddy Power. City’s start to the season hasn’t been too shabby either, yet they are 3/1 to pick up all three points, but it is the draw at odds of 14/5 that represents the best value.

City looked a little awestruck in their Champions League opener against Napoli and reverted into their defensive shell a little as a consequence. Over in Germany this evening I expect that their primary objective will be to keep things tight at the back. After all, an away draw in the Champions League is a good result in most situations.

Under 2.5 goals looks an obvious bet at odds of 4/5 with Bet365 while the 0-0 correct score could also have some mileage in it at odds of 12/1.
