Berbatov 4/6 to join Leverkusen

Bulgaria's all-time record goalscorer joined United from Tottenham in 2008

Bookmaker Sky Bet are offering odds of just 4/6 that Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov signs for Bayer Leverkusen following reports that the Bulgarian had travelled to Germany for talks with the club.

Berbatov’s opportunities at Old Trafford have become increasingly limited despite finishing last season as the Premier League’s joint-top scorer, but last month claimed that he had no plans to leave the English champions.

However, Sky Sports have now reported that the player was spotted taking a flight to Frankfurt, “where he was expected to hold discussions with Leverkusen.”

There has also been reported interested from Bayern Munich, who are quoted at odds of 5/1 to sign the player this January, and Anzhi Makhachkala, who can be backed in the same market at 8/1.

Bulgaria’s all-time record goalscorer joined United from Tottenham in 2008 for a fee in the region of £30 million and has since made over a 100 appearances scoring at rate of nearly 0.5 goals per game.

Spurs are also said to be tracking the 30-year-old’s movements and can be backed at a speculative 12/1 to re-sign the striker.
