Big guns to shoot down Canaries

Only the Premier League's top three sides have won more matches on their travels

Norwich City host Liverpool at Carrow Road in a Premier League tie on Saturday knowing that a win would put them level on points with the Merseysiders.

Former Liverpool defenders Daniel Ayala and Zak Whitbread are unavailable for the hosts due to injury while Marc Tierney also remains sidelined.

Liverpool’s midfield duo Lucas Leiva and Charlie Adam are both expected to miss the final games of the season but captain Steven Gerrard should return having missed last weekend’s 1-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion.

Paul Lambert’s season objective was to simply retain Premier League status and his target looks to have been achieved with relative ease.  The Canaries have now set their sights on a top-half finish and three points on Saturday would give them a good chance of doing just that.

The Reds face Chelsea in the FA Cup final next weekend and, in preparation for the trip to Wembley, Kenny Dalglish will no doubt make several changes when they host Fulham on Tuesday night. For that reason, he is expected to name a strong side at Carrow Road and odds of 21/20 look far too big for the likes of Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard to guide their team to their eighth away win of the season. Only the Premier League’s top three sides have won more matches on their travels.

Liverpool have only won 12 points from their last fifteen games and only bottom-club Wolves have won fewer in 2012.  Norwich, despite their impressive league position, have won just two of their last 11 games in all competitions and no side in the Premier League has kept fewer clean sheets this season.  At home, the Canaries have conceded more league goals than any other team outside the relegation zone.  Liverpool, though, have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last eight games and, on that basis, there is value in Bet Fred’s odds of 4/6 for both teams to score.

If Norwich win the game, Paddy Power will refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on this match.
