Blackburn v Blackpool Betting Preview

Blackpool's gung-ho attitude this season has already earned them five victories on the road and plenty of plaudits

The Premier League is so tight this year that every week seems to throw up two or three relegation six pointers. Up this week we have Blackburn and Blackpool in a basement battle. These two teams are very closely matched with Blackburn one place ahead in the table in 14th on the same points and just three goals to the better.

Blackburn will be without the influential David Dunn and Phil Jones through injury whilst Gael Givet is suspended. Mauro Formica could make his debut after being injured since his January arrival from Newell's Old Boys of Argentina.

The visitors have top scorer DJ Campbell suspended but their midfield talisman Charlie Adam will go back into the starting eleven. The Tangerines have a goalkeeping crisis on their hands with Richard Kingson picking up a knock in last Monday's defeat to Chelsea. They almost have both Matthew Gilks and Paul Rachubka back from long-term injuries whilst reserve keeper Mark Halstead was recalled from Kettering to ease problem.

Expect the Unexpected

Blackburn's home record this season is okay having won six, drawn four and lost four. On the other hand, Blackpool's away record is quite unpredictable with five wins, two draws and eight defeats.

There is reported unrest between Steve Kean and the board room and things are looking a bit grim at Ewood. Looking at the form books, Blackburn are having a torrid time having lost four of their last five games. Despite this the bookies make them 3/4 favourites to win on Saturday. A draw is priced generously at 11/4. Blackpool's gung-ho attitude this season has already earned them five victories on the road and plenty of plaudits, and 16/5 on a Blackpool victory looks like cracking odds.

Return of Charlie will be Adam good sight for Pool Fans

With top scorer DJ Campbell suspended, the responsibility will be on Blackpool's main man Charlie Adam, who has notched seven league goals this year and odds of 9/1 on him opening the scoring at Ewood look very good indeed.

There's not a lot of goals in this Blackburn side. Nikola Kalinic has five league goals and is 6/1 to score first whilst Roque Santa Cruz is 11/2 to score first. These odds don't look great considering he has not scored in six games following his return to Blackburn.

It's difficult to imagine Blackpool being involved in a low scoring game this season, despite being up against 'boring' Blackburn. Why not have a go on over 3.5 goals at 6/4.

Blackpool have spent the entire season defying the odds, and their cavalier style seems to be completely unaffected by a poor run of form. With all of the off field drama at Ewood Park, The Tangerines may defy the odds yet again.
