Blackpool v Aston Villa Betting Odds

After their glorious start to the campaign the honeymoon period is most definitely over for Holloway's men and it is difficult to see where Blackpool are going to get their next points.

Struggling Blackpool entertain Aston Villa at Bloomfield Road this Saturday in a game that could see Villa over take their opponents in the league table.

Ian Holloway's spouting in the media in recent weeks has disguised his teams miserable run of form that has seen them pick up just three points in their last eight games. Their outrageous 5-3 defeat to Everton last weekend was not short in entertainment, and while they can take comfort from their ability to score goals, their defence is all at sea.

Villa's away record this season has been awful, picking up just two wins on the road and conceding a whopping thirty goals in the process, the second most in the league. Their recent form has been mixed, but they have shown signs on occasion that they have the quality that will keep them away from relegation.

Blackpool will be missing centre half Craig Cathcart and goalkeeper Matthew Gilks through injury whilst Aston Villa are without the suspended Nathan Baker and Fabian Delph is doubtful due to recurring knee problems.

Blackpool's Home Form is Blooming Awful

It is perhaps surprising to think that Blackpool's home form has been worse than their away form this season. After their glorious start to the campaign the honeymoon period is most definitely over for Holloway's men and it is difficult to see where Blackpool are going to get their next points. Betting odds of 5/4 on Villa picking up all three points looks to be a very solid bet as their attacking options are likely to cause Blackpool plenty of problems.

Villa have some exciting creative options in midfield with players like Ashley Young, Stewart Downing and young Mark Albrighton all capable of creating chances for Darren Bent, which could prove too much for the leaky Blackpool defence to handle.

Bent has to be considered in the first goal scorer market this Saturday. The England man will be high on confidence after his goal midweek and he has managed two in his first four games for Villa. With odds of 4/1 on him scoring first, it would be daft not to have a punt. Whatever you do, don't back Agbonlahor to score, ever. It took Villa's forward until January to score his first league goal of the campaign and he has managed a measly one goal in sixteen appearances this season.

See Goals at the Beach?

There haven't been less than three goals scored in any game at Bloomfield Road this season and therefore odds of 11/8 on their being over 3.5 goals makes this bet is an absolute must. Villa have shipped a massive amount of goals away from home and have managed to score a respectable amount in return meaning that this fixture is bound to be packed with goals.

With Holloway's boys waning, and Houllier's men gaining, everything on Saturday points to a Villa victory.
