Blues made favourites to land Cahill

Sky Bet have now made Chelsea the Even money favourite

Chelsea have been made the Even money betting favourites to sign Bolton defender Gary Cahill amid rumours that Josh McEachran could be offered to The Trotters on loan as part of the deal.

Blues manager Andre Villas-Boas is thought to be keen to add defensive reinforcements to his squad after Brazilian Alex handed in a transfer request.

Cahill was the subject of intense interest from Arsenal and Tottenham throughout the summer but neither club managed to match Bolton’s valuation of their captain. However, the England defender is out of contract in the summer and it is thought that Wanderers will cut their losses this January and take a fee in the region of £7million.

A potential deal-breaker for the Blues could be to allow midfielder Josh McEachran to move to the Reebok on loan for the remainder of the season. Owen Coyle has played the loan market well in the past, benefitting from Dean Strurridge’s goals at the back end of last season and bringing in Gael Kakuta and Derdyck Boyata so far this season.

As a result of recent speculation Sky Bet have now made Chelsea the Even money favourite in their Gary Cahill January transfer betting market. Tottenham are thought to be their main contenders for the player’s signature and are priced at odds of 9/4, while Arsenal’s recent upsurge in form has seen their need for a defender diminish and their odds in this market consequently drift out to 7/1.
