Blues made favourites to sign Ba

Spurs are made the 9/4 second favourites

Bookmaker Sky Bet have made Chelsea their 8/11 favourites to sign Demba Ba during this January transfer window following speculation that the player has a clause in his contract that could make him available on the cheap.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has already publically declared his admiration for the player and hinted at the clause in Ba’s contract.

“I keep hearing conflicting stories about how much the buyout clause is, one person says one figure, another says he can be bought for X amount. The only ones who know are Newcastle and Demba Ba,” said Redknapp.

Spurs are made the 9/4 second favourites in the Demba Ba transfer betting market.

A man claiming to be a representative of the Senegal striker, Armand Doorn, had stated that Manchester United had already enquired about the player. But Ba has since made steps to quash these rumours by claiming on his Twitter feed that he does not know who Doorn is.

“Really, I don't know how desperate this ‘Armand Doorn’ can be to talk like he's my agent,” said the 26-year-old.

“He's nothing for me. Stop lying and show respect.”

Ba is currently on international duty with Senegal at the African Cup of Nations and could be out of domestic action until mid-February, depending on Senegal’s success.
