Boca enter Tevez race

Boca have recently lost striker Lucas Viatri for six months

Boca Juniors are believed to be interested in signing Manchester City outcast Carlos Tevez on loan as the striker awaits to discover his punishment for refusing to come off the bench in Munich earlier this month.

Having already been suspended for two weeks by the club the Argentine is expected to be punished further when the player and club meet on Wednesday for a disciplinary hearing. Although it could still be a number of weeks before any reprimand is imposed.

A host of clubs have been linked with the troubled star including the likes of Anzhi Makhachkla, Al Wasl, PSG, Inter Milan and Juventus. However, given the noises that Tevez has previously made about a desire to return to his home country it is thought that a move to Boca Juniors would appeal to the 27-year-old.

Boca have recently lost striker Lucas Viatri for six months due to injury and are believed to be seeking permission from the Argentine FA to sign Tevez on an emergency loan deal.

“We will make an attempt for Carlos Tevez, who is not playing at Manchester City," said Boca president Jose Beraldi. “We know it will be difficult but we will try.”

“The doors are always open to Carlitos. He's a Boca idol and a key piece in many of our achievements.

“This is his home. He grew up at the club.”

Stan James currently price Boca Juniors at odds of 7/1 in their Carlos Tevez January transfer betting market. They make Inter Milan their 3/1 favourites to sign the player this winter with Real Madrid at odds of 7/2 and Corinthians at 9/2.
