Bolton v Man City Betting Preview

the main protagonist in the Swans' downfall was David Silva

Both these teams got off to impressive 4-0 wins against newly promoted clubs on the opening day of the season. Sergio Aguero’s introduction inspired Manchester City’s triumph over Swansea while Bolton spoiled QPR’s return to the top flight with an emphatic all-round performance.

All the plaudits went to Aguero following last Monday night’s win, but the main protagonist in the Swans’ downfall was David Silva. The little Spaniard pulled all the strings in midfield but lacked an outlet for the first 60 minutes. Aguero’s introduction changed all that as the pair linked up impressively – probably worrying well for their title rivals – to quash Swansea’ resistance and spirit.

The Argentine’s performance is likely to have forced Roberto Mancini’s hand into starting him this weekend. His inclusion will come at the expense of either Edin Dzeko or the manager’s preferred 4-3-3 formation. Nigel de Jong could miss out with a foot injury.

Bolton manager Owen Coyle has no fresh injury worries and is expected to go with the same XI that won so convincingly against QPR. However, they’ll be careful not to get too carried away with the win against what was a poor Rangers side.

As impressive as City were in the latter stages on Monday, dispatching relegation threatened sides on home soil has never been their problem. It is form on the road that has so far stopped them from reaching the heights that they aim for. Mancini’s side have lost five of their last eight Premier League away games and just once in their last six league trips to Bolton.

But, in Aguero and Silva, Mancini looks to have found the perfect antidote to his naturally defensive style and I expect them to be a lot more accomplished on their travels this season. Boylesports are offering 5/6 on an away win in the Bolton v Man City match odds betting market; a price that looks fair but definitely worth backing.
