Bookies make RVP a 6/4 chance to leave Arsenal

They then go with odds of 5/2 that he joins Manchester City

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie is a 6/4 chance to leave the club in the summer according to bookmaker Paddy Power, while the Irish firm offer odds of 1/2 that he remains at the Emirates past the closure of the summer transfer window.

The Dutchman’s current deal with the Gunners is due to expire next year, but if he decides not to sign a new deal in the summer then manager Arsene Wenger could be faced with a similar predicament to the one that saw Samir Nasri sold to Manchester City last August.

Bookmaker BetVictor also offer betting on Van Persie’s immediate future and also offer odds of 1/2 that he remains at Arsenal next season. They then go with odds of 5/2 that he joins Manchester City and offer odds of 8/1 on a move to each of Barcelona or Real Madrid.

The Arsenal captain has 33 goals in all competitions this season and teammate Gervinho, quite rightly, thinks that the club should do everything that they can to keep the player.

“You can see his class with his finishing, how he leads the group, and with his experience,” said the Ivorian.

“He is a player who has grown in to the role of captain and is the sort of player you need during the hard times.”

His 26 league goals to date make Van Persie a 1/8 chance to top the Premier League goalscoring charts. Wayne Rooney, with 21, appears to be his only plausible challenger at this late stage and can be backed at odds of 9/2.

The Gunners are now priced at odds of 1/16 to achieve a top four finish this season, and are 4/7 to be London’s top club.
