Bookies unsure on next Swans boss

Bet365 make Brighton boss Gus Poyet their favourite at odds of 3/1

Bookmakers appear unsure about who will replace Brendan Rodgers as manager of Swansea City with as many as four different candidates made favourite by various firms.

Bet365 make Brighton boss Gus Poyet their favourite at odds of 3/1, Michael Laudrup is the apparent front runner according to Boylesports at odds of 3/1, Blue Square make Ian Holloway their 7/2 favourite and current Wigan assistant manager Graeme Jones is the market leader at odds of 10/3 with Stan James.

Jones continues to occupy a position at the top of the betting despite the morning papers suggesting that he has turned down the opportunity following discussions with Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins.

“We are weighing up our options over the next few days and we will take it from there,” Jenkins told Wales on Sunday.

“But there is no timescale apart from having the new manager in place for the start of the season.”

Stan James quote odds of 2/1 on Swansea being relegated at the end of this season, and 1/3 that they stay up. While you can get odds of 7/2 that they improve on last season’s 11th place finish, with a top-ten finish in 2012/13.
