Borussia Dortmund v Arsenal Betting

An away win is available to back at 11/4

Arsenal take to the continent to play German champions Borussia Dortmund as “a new squad” embarks on the Champions League group stages for a “new start” at the club.

To say that the opening weeks of this season have been testing for Arsene Wenger would be an understatement of gross proportions. But now that the furores of the transfer window – or as Wenger calls it; kryptonite – are over, attentions can revert to what Arsenal do best; making pretty patterns on a football pitch.

Thomas Vermaelen, Jack Wilshere, Abou Diaby and Sebastien Squillaci remain sidelined for the Gunners and are joined in the treatment room by Jack Wilshere and Tomas Rosicky.

Per Mertesacker, Mikel Arteta and Yossi Benayoun are expected to take their Champions League bows having made their debuts in Saturday’s win over Swansea.

Much like Arsenal Dortmund have also had a slow start to the new domestic campaign. Despite romping to the Bundesliga title last season they are already five points behind league leaders Bayern Munich this season and are languishing in mid-table with just seven points from five games.

Despite early season form the bookmakers see fit to make the Germans strong favourites in the match odds betting market, quoting Dortmund as an Even money bet. An away win is available to back at 11/4 and a share of the spoils is 23/10.

Regardless of the result the style of play associated with both these teams should ensure an entertaining game for the neutrals.

“They play very fast, very offensively, very similar to Arsenal,” commented Wenger.

“It will be a good match. We will play offensively, they will play offensively so it will be a very attractive match.”

Over 2.5 goals can be backed at Evens with Bet365, while Over 3.5 goals is priced at 12/5.
