Bruce looking for striker

We might just bring somebody in to give us a spark

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has hinted that he might bring another striker to the club before the summer transfer window closes this Wednesday.

The Black Cats have had a disappointing start to the season with draws away to Liverpool and Swansea sandwiching a home defeat to Newcastle, and have scored just one goal in four league and cup games.

“We might just bring somebody in to give us a spark and we will be off and running. We always knew that (Connor) Wickham is one for the future,” said Bruce following the 0-0 draw with Swansea.

“We hope we can bring something to fruition, we have one or two things in the fire so we will see what we can do.”

Craig Bellamy, Nicklas Bendtner, Patrick Helmes and Peter Crouch have all been linked with a move to the Stadium of Light by various media outlets.

Sunderland are currently priced at 12/1 by Sky Bet in their Nicklas Bendtner transfer betting market while the signing of Tottenham striker Peter Crouch is quoted at 4/1.
