Bulgaria v England Betting Preview

In their last 13 games Bulgaria have won just twice

England currently top Euro 2012 qualification Group G, but only by virtue of a better goal difference than second-place Montenegro. Anything less than a win in Sofia this Friday night will set alarm bells ringing.

However, despite the pressure and despite recent home draws against Ghana and Switzerland and Ghana Fabio Capello’s men should be confident of getting the result they need here.

Since the Dimitar Berbatov’s retirement from international football the Bulgarian’s have lacked firepower. In their last 13 games they have won just twice – against Cyprus and Wales – and scored only seven goals. But most encouraging for Capello and England fans is the form of some their star players, specifically Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young who have begun the season at an electrifying pace.

Boylesports price England at 4/7 for victory; it’s difficult to foresee any other outcome.

The England side that drew with Switzerland at Wembley three months ago was a tired and jaded team. Wayne Rooney thinks that a summer of rest and recuperation is the main reason that he has started the season in such good form.

“The best thing for me was the five weeks in the summer when I did nothing,” said the Manchester United striker.

“No training at all. I honestly didn't lift any weights or run, nothing.”

“The fitness coach gave me a program to follow but I left it behind. I was a couple of kilos over but it's easy enough with the work you do in pre-season.”

Rooney has five goals from the opening three games of the Premier League season and is 11/10 to add to carry that form onto the international scene and get on the scoresheet against Bulgaria.
