Citizens to stroll to title victory

The Citizens have only failed to win one of their last 23 Premier League matches at the Etihad

Manchester City host Queens Park Rangers at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday knowing that a win will almost certainly be enough to secure a first league title since 1968.  QPR, though, can guarantee their Premier League survival with a win on Sunday.

Roberto Mancini has no new injury worries and may name an unchanged side. Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero are likely to start in attack for the hosts having scored 12 goals in the six games that they have started together.

Heidar Helguson is unlikely to feature for the visitors and Samba Diakite has also been ruled out having failed to recovered from a virus.

QPR have the second-worst defensive record away from home in the Premier League this season and, if their defence capitulates in the same way that it did the last time they travelled, Sunday’s game carries a distinct possibility of a goal fest. Rangers lost 6-1 to Chelsea three weeks ago and Mark Hughes will be hoping to prevent such an occurrence against his former club.  Bet 365 offer odds of 5/6 for over 3.5 goals to be scored during Sunday’s game.

French forward Djibril Cisse has either scored or been sent-off in each of his seven Premier League appearances for the Hoops since his move from Lazio in January. William Hill offer odds of 5/1 for him to score at any time against City and the same bookmaker offers a best-priced 9/2 for any player to be given their marching orders during the game.

The Citizens have only failed to win one of their last 23 Premier League matches at the Etihad Stadium and they have not been beaten on their home turf since December 2010.  QPR, in contrast, have won just two points on their travels from the last 36 available and their most recent away victory came back in November 2011. With the Premier League trophy at stake, it is difficult to make a case for anything other than a home win on Sunday but Sky Bet's odds of 1/8 are not the most attractive available.

City boast the tightest defence in the league and have conceded only six goals in the first-half of games this season. On that basis, William Hill's odds of 10/11 look very generous for the home side to win to nil.
