City go odds-on for title

Mancini's men now have a five point lead over United

Manchester City have been made the odds-on favourites for the Premier League title after they beat Wolves and Chelsea lost to Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.

Only 10 days ago it was neighbours Manchester United who were made clear betting favourites to defend their Premier League title. But a 6-1 win over the champions and the subsequent win at home to Wolves has seen City establish a commanding lead at the top of the table.

Roberto Mancini’s men now have a five point lead over United, with Chelsea a further four points behind following their 5-3 loss at home to The Gunners on Saturday lunchtime.

Victor Chandler now offer odds of just 5/6 for City to win their first English league title since 1968. United are out to 7/4, Chelsea are now 7/1 while their has been some support for Arsenal who have shortened slightly into 33/1.

Despite the bookies’ prices, however, City striker Edin Dzeko still believes that Sir Alex Ferguson’s side are the favourites.

“My dream is to win the Premier League title,” said the Bosnian.

“We've played 10 games and we have five more points than United, and for me they are still favourites for the title.

“We're growing up every game, but United are United. Nine points ahead of Chelsea after 10 games is fantastic. Nobody expected that but nothing is finished. It's not just between us and Man Utd.”
