City renew Cavani interest but Chelsea favourites

The 35-year-old is one of the most highly sought strikers in European football

Chelsea remain Sky Bet’s 6/4 favourites to sign Napoli striker Edinson Cavani despite reports in Italy suggesting that Manchester City have made an offer for the Uruguayan striker.

The 35-year-old is one of the most highly sought strikers in European football having scored 49 goals in 68 league appearances for the Naples club since joining from Palermo for a fee totalling €17million two years ago.

Sky Bet quote odds of 4/1 that City complete the signing of the player this summer, while it is assumed that his arrival would signify the departure of another current City striker.

Carlos Tevez and Roberto Mancini appear to have patched up their differences and the little Argentine could yet stay in Manchester. However, if he chooses to leave then PSG (3/1) and Inter Milan (4/1) are expected to lead the race for his signature.

Mancini also hinted that Mario Balotelli could be on his way out of the club following his red card against Arsenal towards the end of last season, but again went back on his word with the controversial youngster making an appearance from the substitutes bench in the final game of the season. AC Milan (3/1) and Inter Milan (5/1) are made the betting favourites to sign Balotelli this transfer window.
