Close encounter expected at Loftus Road

QPR have scored the fewest home goals in the league

QPR play host to West Brom on Saturday in what promises to be an intriguing match-up. Both teams have had a mixed time recently, mixing impressive performances and results with days to forget.

Neil Warnock’s men have struggled at Loftus Road, scoring the fewest home goals in the league with five strikes. The baggies have had similar troubles on the road, only scoring six goals themselves. This would suggest that the game could be a struggle for both teams. Out of QPR’s six home league games so far this season, there has only been two games that have featured more than two goals. In Albion’s six away games, there has only been one game that has not featured more than two goals. That shows how hard it is to judge the outcome.

If there is to be goal action, then you would fancy one of the Baggies’ goal threats to pop up. To score the first goal, you can get Shane Long at 8/1 with Victor Chandler and Peter Odemwingie at 7/1 with the same company. Of course, QPR are likely to be more adventurous early on being the home side, and if you fancy Heider Helguson to open the scoring, then 7/1 is available with Bet365.

In terms of results, it is extremely hard to put any sort of money on any of the three outcomes. Of the three, I would edge to a draw as I believe both sides would be happy taking a point to edge away from the relegation zone which should be their main target for this season. We should expect a gritty game with defences being on top throughout. If that is the case, then 0-0 is 10/1 with SkyBet.
