Curbishley goes odds on for Wolves job

Bet365 are now as short as 1/2 about Curbishley taking over

Alan Curbishley has been made the odds-on favourite to takeover from Mick McCarthy at Wolves after chairman Steve Morgan admitted that the former Charlton boss ticks all the right boxes.

Bet365 are now as short as 1/2 about Curbishley becoming the next Molineux boss and ending a three-and-a-half-year hiatus from management.

“He's got a great track record, he's been there and done it before, and he's exactly the calibre of person that we're looking for,” Morgan told Sky Sports News when asked about Curbishley.

Former Sunderland, Birmingham and Wigan boss Steve Bruce remains the second favourite at odds of 5/1 with Bet365, while Neil Warnock is the next in the betting at odds of 14/1.

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey has confirmed that the club will be looking to bring in someone with Premier League experience, which would rule out the likes of Malky Mackay, Dougie Freedman and Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, who have all been linked with the position.

“This job is not a job for a novice. You keep an open mind but winning matches in the Premier League is the most difficult part of this whole scenario,” said Moxey.

“We have to have someone in we think will win games in the Premier League.”

The club hope to have a new manager in place ahead of their next Premier League game at Newcastle on February 24.
