Di Matteo in to 5/2 for permanent Blues roll

victory over Leicester on Sunday was their fourth consecutive win under Di Matteo

Odds on Roberto di Matteo being handed the roll as manager of Chelsea on a permanent basis are steadily contracting following a dream start to life in the Stamford Bridge hotseat.

The Italian was appointed on an interim basis following the sacking of Portuguese boss Andre Villas-Boas and is now as short as 5/2 with bookmaker William Hill to be given the job on a permanent basis.

The Blues’ FA Cup quarter-final victory over Leicester on Sunday was their fourth consecutive win under Di Matteo. Chelsea will now face Tottenham or Bolton in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and Benfica in the Champions League quarter-final.

However, the Italian insists that he has not considered the possibility of taking the job on a permanent basis.

“That has not crossed my mind for one second,” he said haead of the game with Leicester.

“I have so many things to do you can't even imagine. I am focusing just to get the team ready to the best of my ability for Sunday.

“We have set ourselves the target for the season and there doesn't need to be any other discussions.”

Chelsea are now a 9/4 chance to win the FA Cup and 8/1 to win this season’s Champions League.
