Germans to get back on track

Greeks generally travel as well as vintage port

Greek Champions Olympiakos travel to Dortmund in what is battle of the basement clubs in Champions League Group F. Dortmund have a wretched record in the group so far, losing to both Marseille and Olympiakos already and drawing with Arsenal. The German champions need to win at least two of the remaining games and draw the other to progress to the next round.

Olympiakos, having registered their first points last week at home to Dortmund, will be confident of repeating the dose in the return fixture. In terms of team news, Dortmund will still be without talismanic striker Lucas Barrios, but elsewhere they should be at full strength. The Greek side will not be able to rely on David Fuster, who is out for a month with a rib fracture, and Francisco Yeste, who is still working his way back to full fitness. Ljubomir Fejsa and Giannis Fetfatzidis are set to return to the team after recovering from knocks, but Vasilis Torosidis has been ruled out of the game.

Personally I feel that Dortmund have been very unlucky so far. The 3-0 loss to Marseille was about the most one sided game you will ever see end in defeat for the dominating side, and many, many teams struggle to get a result in Greece. So there are reasons to look beyond the table.

Dortmund are a fine side. Couple that with the fact that the Greeks generally travel as well as vintage port, and I expect them to win comfortably and keep their qualification dream alive.

As a result, I think it is worth considering two bets. Firstly, Dortmund giving a goal start. This is available best price 13/10 at 888sport.

Secondly, given that I expect Arsenal to beat Marseille, it might be worth looking at Dortmund to qualify from the group. The one downside to this is that they will require a result at the Emirates, but by then Arsenal could already be through as group winners. This is best priced 9/2 with Paddy Power. They are at least the second best team in the group.
