Drogba to sign off Chelsea career in style

Blue Sqaure offer odds of 7/1 that Drogba scores and Chelsea win the match

If you believe the rumours, and you often shouldn’t, this weekend’s Champions League final could be Didier Drogba’s final game for Chelsea before he moves on to pastures new when his contract expires in the summer.

The Ivorian, perhaps more than any other player on the Allianz Arena pitch this Saturday, has a point to prove and a right to wrong. It was he, remember, who was sent off in extra time of the 2008 Champions League final, for petulantly slapping Nemanja Vidic, leaving his teammates to battle out the final 15 minutes of the match and enforce a penalty shootout.

“I've got a lot of disappointments but I've also got a lot of great moments in finals so I'm going to try to make sure that, for my team-mates, this one is a great one,” said the 34-year-old.

Paddy Power are offering appealing odds of 9/1 that Drogba scores the first goal of the game, with the money-back offer of refunding losing bets on the first goalscorer market (as well as correct score and scorecast markets) if Chelsea lift the Champions League trophy at the end of the night.

Chelsea are a best price of 7/2 to win the match in 90 minutes and 15/8 to be crowned European champions, both with Boylesports, while Blue Sqaure offer odds of 7/1 that Drogba scores and Chelsea win the match.

BetVictor also have a market on where Drogba will be playing his football next season with a move to Shanghai Shenhua, where Nicolas Anelka is currently a player-coach, priced at odds of 7/2. Anzhi Makhachkala, Guangzhou Evergrande and Juventus are all quoted at odds of 8/1 suggesting the bookmakers believe the striker will be looking for a big-money move to end his career.
