Everton v Blackpool Betting Preview

The Seasiders were delighted to keep hold of playmaker and talisman Charlie Adam and he was at the heart of everything good in Blackpool's last two outings.

With odds beginning to shorten on David Moyes being the next Premier League manager to leave his post The Toffees will be hoping that victory against a struggling Blackpool side will be enough to persuade the Everton boss to remain in charge.

The last time these sides met they played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with The Toffees having to come from behind twice to obtain a draw. Ian Holloway praised his players' performance that day and suggested: 'It looks like we're getting to grip with this league'. Recent performances suggest that grip may be beginning to loosen.

Tony Hibbert may return for the home side after missing the trip to Arsenal through illness. Top goalscorer Tim Cahill should also be available after returning from Asia Cup duty.

Blackpool have no fresh injury concerns coming into this match.

Home Blues must be solved

Despite playing very well for 45 minutes and holding a 1-0 lead, Everton took nothing from their midweek trip at Arsenal after two defensive lapses in the final 20 minutes resulted in them losing 2-1.

Everton have only won one of their last six at home and this has to be rectified if they are to pull away from a relegation zone they merely sit four points above.

Two defeats in 11 indicates that Everton are a difficult proposition but this sequence features six ties and they must start to turn some of those draws into victories if they are to start climbing the table.

After losing to bottom of the league West Ham at home in midweek, Holloway must be getting slightly unnerved as his side now sit a meagre five points of the relegation places.

This gap might not be so concerning if their run of form wasn't so poor but with only one win in seven league games their slow descent down the table must be setting off alarm bells at Bloomfield Road.

After three defeats on the bounce at home they must be looking forward to getting back on the road where they have picked up five of their eight victories this season.

The bookmakers are quoting betting odds of 1 /2 on a home win, 3/1 on the draw and 5/1 on the away win.

Knowing me, Mikel Arteta! Knowing you 'World class' Louis! SAHA!

Everton's Spanish playmaker was quick to praise Louis Saha's recent contribution after the midweek defeat to Arsenal, believing that the French striker is 'world class' and will play a pivotal role in Everton ascending the table. Despite the goal being extremely dubious, the crisp finish was his fourth goal in five and he appears to have hit a rich vein of form just at the right time. The bookmakers are quoting odds of 4/1 for Saha to bag the first goal.

Tim Cahill should also make a welcome return after a month on international duty. The Australian has scored three times as many of any of his team mates and is 5/4 to score his tenth goal of the season at any time in this weekend's game.

Blackpool will be relying on top goalscorer DJ Campbell to provide the goal threat and he is 5/2 to score at anytime. The Seasiders were delighted to keep hold of playmaker and talisman Charlie Adam and he was at the heart of everything good in Blackpool's last two outings. He is always a set-piece danger and can backed at 12/1 to net the first goal.

Only Birmingham and Wigan have a worse home goals tally than Everton but with 13 goals in their previous six games in all competitions, they may have just found their scoring touch.

Blackpool have by far the best away scoring record in the bottom half of the table with an impressive 17 but with 10 goals conceded in their last four league games they clearly have major defensive issues.

There could be goals in this one and over 3.5 goals at 6/4 to look like a decent bet.

With Evertons' frustration at boiling point and Moyes' perhaps questioning his position this may be the perfect time for Blackpool to play them, or are they going to be in the midst of an Evertonian backlash?
