Fernando Torres Transfer Betting Odds

Atletico Madrid are quoted at 5/1

Irked by his latest cull from the Chelsea starting XI Fernando Torres is starting to make noises that suggest he could leave Stamford Bridge this January. There will be no shortage of takers should the Spaniard decide to end his stay in West London.

Torres has ben quoted as saying that Chelsea’s “older” players are “very slow” and described Juan Mata as a necessary signing for the club – although the striker claims that he has been misinterpreted.

“We are going in-depth to regain the tape of that interview,” said manager Andre Villas-Boas. “We'll see if things play exactly as they are in that interview.”

Chelsea’s £50 million acquisition has failed to deliver since making his move from Liverpool in January scoring only once in 22 appearances. He was dropped to the bench for Saturday’s win over Sunderland and could remain on the sidelines for this week’s Champions League game against Bayer Leverkusen.

“I just made the changes,” added Villas-Boas.

“I think any player who's not part of the squad or the selected players is not happy. I'm glad because maybe you can stimulate them to go one step further, or motivate them a bit more.”

Recent developments have led to growing speculation that Chelsea could sell the player in the January transfer window and the bookmakers predict a return to Spanish football.

Former club Atletico Madrid are quoted at 5/1 to sign the 27-year-old as are the financially invigorated Malaga. Real Madrid are 7/1 in the Fernando Torres transfer betting market with Barcelona at 16/1 and Villarreal at 25/1.
