Fulham target signings

Jol's side remain winless in the Premier League

Fulham manager Martin Jol has confirmed that he is looking to bring in some new faces ahead of Wednesday evening’s transfer window closure.

The Cottagers were left light in the striker department for their trip to Newcastle on Sunday as Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson continue to nurse niggling injuries.

“Johnson was the only attacking player on the bench in the second-half and he wasn't 100 per cent fit, then you know you need a couple of players to add competition,” said Jol following the 2-1 defeat.

“You don't have to be great at mathematics to realise that if nine players have left the club and four have come in, you need some players.”

Last season’s top goalscorer Clint Dempsey netted Fulham’s first goal of the season at the weekend but Jol’s side remain winless in the Premier League and the need for reinforcements at Craven Cottage is clear.

Fulham have been linked with moves for West Brom’s Jerome Thomas and Birmingham striker Cameron Jerome throughout the summer, but have so far been frustrated in their search for attacking options.

One player that looks to be close to completing a move to the club is Juventus defender Zdenek Grygera.

“I have decided to leave and Fulham are an excellent option. Hopefully it will come out well. I take Fulham as a big call and will experience another top league.,” said the 31-year-old.
