Fulham v Blackburn Betting Tips

Blackburn look over priced at 5/1 with Victor Chandler

With just one point between them so far this season both managers go into this game under the gun. A win would, at least temporarily, alleviate the pressure for either boss while defeat would seriously intensify the gaze of the magnifying glass.

Blackburn fans are so troubled with their team’s start that they saw fit to draft a letter of concern to owners Venky’s asking for the removal of Steve Kean. Kean has since moved to dismiss rumours of ‘crisis meetings’ in India and stresses that his relationship with the owners is as good as ever. But he’ll know that if he can’t get some points on the board soon he could be collecting his P45.

Fulham’s poor start to the season forced Martin Jol to delve into the transfer market and bring in Zdenek Grygera and Bryan Ruiz on deadline day. The pressure on the Dutchman is nowhere near as intense as it is on Kean, but he will be anxious to get that fist win on the board, especially on home soil.

The Cottagers' aforementioned deadline day acquisitions are expected to slot straight into the starting line-up. Bobby Zamora could return to the bench but John Arne Riise (groin) and Simon Davies (knee) remain sidelined.

Blackburn could also hand debuts to new signings Yakubu, Scott Dann and Simon Vukcevic but Moreten Gamst Pedersen is out and Ryan Nelsen and David Dunn are doubtful.

Rovers were extremely unfortunate in defeat to Everton last time out and the new additions to the squad bring goalscoring ability and defensive talent at the back in equal measure. Although producing a similar performance away from Ewood Park may not be a formality they do look over priced at 5/1 with Victor Chandler.

Ruiz’s arrival should allow Jol to tinker with Fulham’s style of football. Although a solid defence will remain the central point of their play it could mean that they play with a more expansive mind-set. A low scoring draw wouldn’t really suit either manager and so Over 2.5 goals looks a good betting opportunity at odds of 21/20 with William Hill.

Kean has asked Blackburn fans that they judge him once the transfer window has closed. He must now deliver, or face the consequences.
