Gervinho Nears Arsenal Move

Gervinho would represent Arsene Wenger's first major signing of the summer

Lille striker Gervinho is expected to complete his £10.5 million move to Arsenal in the coming days.

The highly sought after Ivorian scored 15 goals for Lille last season as Les Douges won the Ligue 1 and French Cup double. However, Lille manager Frederic Paquet has been resigned to losing the striker since the season’s conclusion.

"He wants to go and has developed contacts with Arsenal," Paquet told L'Equipe earlier this month.

"We will soon have talks with them and see what they offer. He has expressed a desire to go to England and we will see what happens."

Gervinho would represent Arsene Wenger’s first major signing of the summer and may not be the last player to move to the Emirates from Lille. The north London club are also thought to be interested in Belgian midfielder Eden Hazard, although it is not clear whether Paquet will be as accommodating in letting the youngster leave.

Arsenal are currently quoted at odds of 7/1 to win the Premier League this season and 7/4 to win any major trophy.
