Goals a given as Gunners go gung-ho

Wenger has admitted that his side will have to gamble

Arsenal host AC Milan at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday needing to overturn a four-goal deficit in order to advance to the Quarter Finals of the Champions League.

Mikel Arteta is unavailable having been stretchered off during Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Liverpool on Saturday. Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby are also expected to miss out while Yossi Benayoun and Thomas Rosicky face late fitness tests.

Antonio Cassano, Maxi Lopez and Alexandre Pato are all missing for Milan through injury while Massimo Ambrosini is suspended. Clarence Seedorf and Kevin Prince-Boateng are doubts but Mathieu Flamini and Alberto Aquilani have returned to training following recent lay-offs. Both may feature at some point for the visitors.

The Serie A league-leaders are unbeaten in their last five matches in all competitions and Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic goes into the game in fine form having scored a hat-trick during Milan’s 4-0 win over Palermo at the weekend. Coral offer 2/1 for the Swede to score at any time during the game.

The Gunners have scored a highly impressive fifteen times in their last three home games and, in Robin Van Persie, they have one of the most in-form strikers in world football. The Dutchman has netted 31 times in all competitions and he is available at 9/2 with William Hill to break the deadlock at the Emirates.

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 13 home games and Milan have not won any of their away games in this season’s Champion’s League. It would take one of Arsenal’s all-time greatest performances to advance to the next round at Milan’s expense but a home win is perfectly feasible and Paddy Power’s odds of 23/20 are very tempting indeed. Both bets look excellent value.
