Goals expected at Loftus Road

I expect goals, more than three of them.

The form guide is often the first place to look when you start putting your accumulator together on a Saturday morning, and in this case it can only suggest one winner when QPR host Arsenal on Saturday.

The Gunners have been in sensational form of late in the Premier League, not losing in eight and winning their last seven, propelling them up to third place in the table.

Their defence has regularly been criticised throughout the campaign, but Arsene Wenger seems to have found the right formula at the back having conceded just six goals in their eight-game undefeated run.

The back four has been slightly disturbed with Laurent Koscielny picking up a knee injury before their 3-0 win over Aston Villa, which may well keep him out of the trip to Loftus Road, but Johan Djourou will continue to deputise.

Sebastien Squillaci may be fit again in time for the London derby, but will only expect a place on the bench, whilst other long-term injury problems such as Jack Wilshere and Per Mertesacker remain sidelined.

QPR’s miraculous come from behind win against Liverpool last Wednesday ended a dire run of seven games without a win, and looked as though it could be a turning point for them. However, the ill-discipline which has proved a serious problem cost them again as Djibril Cisse was dismissed and they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Sunderland last time out.

The Frenchman will be suspended for the visit of the Gunners, and that will do the Rs no good as they look to improve on a woeful record of picking up just 10 points from the previous 54 available.

Obviously the Gunners are favourites for the contest, and the 5/1 offered on Rangers is a rare sight for a home team in the Premier League.

Arsenal are playing with the kind of freedom and confidence that has seen them absolutely railroad teams that are out of form in the past, like they did to Blackburn in February.

With them on fire, and Rangers getting to the stage where they are going to have to go for the three points I expect goals, more than three of them.
