Hernandez injury fears allayed

"I expect him to be training without incident on Wednesday."

Fears of a long lay-off for Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez have been alleviated after the player’s agent confirmed that he could be back in training as early as Wednesday.

Chicharito was on the receiving end of a late lunge from Ashley Cole towards the end of Manchester United’s 3-1 win over the Blues on Sunday. The tackle led to the England defender being shown a yellow card and Sir Alex Ferguson condemning the challenge.

“It was a shocking tackle. Ashley Cole is very reckless at times. Being committed, you can sometimes go over the edge a bit,” the United manager told MUTV.

At the time Ferguson was contemplating the possibility of being without the Mexican for a number of months but tests have now shown no serious damage.

“It's just a bump, nothing more,” said Eduardo Hernandez.

“It looked like (his absence) was longer, they were looking for a fracture, that's why they ran those tests on him.

“I expect him to be training without incident on Wednesday.”

Hernandez has two Premier League goals so far this season and can currently be backed at odds of 12/1 with Boylesports to finish the season as the division’s top goalscorer.
