Kean denies being given ultimatum

Kean is the 2/5 favourite to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job

Blackburn boss Steve Kean has denied that the club’s owners Venky’s have issued him an ultimatum in relation to Tuesday’s clash with fellow relegation strugglers Bolton.

Blackburn have picked up just 10 points from their opening 16 games of this season, one point more than their midweek opponents.

“We spoke for 45 minutes and had a good conversation. We were looking forward to the transfer window opening,” said Kean of his meeting with the owners.

He was also asked if they had issued him a must-win ultimatum in relation to this Thursday’s match and replied: “No, not at all.”

William Hill currently offer odds of 6/5 about Rovers picking up all three points at Ewood Park tomorrow, with the visitors at odds of 12/5 to get the win that would see them leapfrog their opponents and 11/5 that the game ends all square.

At present Steve Kean is the 2/5 favourite to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job. However, a Blackburn win this midweek would alleviate a lot of pressure and could see Owen Coyle, currently 7/4, replace him at the head of the market.
