Kean maintains Rovers belief

"Sometimes in the season you go through spells like this"

Steve Kean is adamant that he is the man to turn things around at Blackburn following a dismal start to the season that has seen Rovers pick up just five points from their opening nine games.

Two Rafael van der Vaart strikes either side of a Mauro Formica equaliser were enough to condemn Rovers to their sixth defeat of the season on Sunday and leave the Lancashire club marooned at the bottom of the league table.

“Sometimes in the season you go through spells like this where you play well, you control games, but don't get your rewards,” Kean told Radio Rovers.

“Sometimes you've just got to get through these periods at the moment it isn't bouncing for us.

“We've just got to keep going and one day it'll bounce off someone's knee and go in and we'll be off and running again.”

Kean is currently quoted as the 8/15 favourite with Sky Bet to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job. While the same bookmaker offer odds of 5/6 on Rovers being relegated this season.

Owners Venky’s have declared publicly their support of their under-fire manager but the upcoming fixture against Norwich this weekend – which Blackburn are 11/4 to win – could prove to be a pivotal game in the Scotsman’s employment status.
