Ladbrokes make Wenger favourite for Barca job

Guardiola is expected to take an extended break from the game

Bookmaker Ladbrokes have made Arsene Wenger their betting favourite to succeed Pep Guardiola as manager of Barcelona after the Catalan legend announced he would be leaving the club.

Most bookmakers have Athletic Bilbao boss Marcelo Biesla and Roma manager Luis Enrique vying for favouritism but Ladbrokes see the current Arsenal gaffer as the most likely to take over at the Nou Camp.

Guardiola is expected to take an extended break from the game, although his desire to one day manage in the Premier League is no secret. Ladbrokes offer odds of 11/4 that he is managing a Premier League club on the first day of next season, and just 1/4 that he is not. It is 15/8 that he wins a Premier League title within the next five years.

Betting on Guardiola’s next club suggests Stamford Bridge is his most likely destination with 3/1 offered on a move to Chelsea. Manchester Untied and Manchester City are each quoted at 7/2 in the same market, with 5/1 offered about him taking the Arsenal job.

“All we can say at this stage is that Pep looks Premier League bound. The odds suggest if and when he finally arrives domestic glory shouldn't be far away,” said Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes.
