Liverpool 5/1 to bring in Tevez

5/1 to sign the Argentine

Despite the club moving to strenuously deny that they offered Manchester City Andy Carroll in exchange for Carlos Tevez, Liverpool have been backed into 5/1 to sign the Argentine before the close of the January transfer window.

In the Sportingbet market that includes loan deals AC Milan remain the 9/4 favourites, but the Anfield club, who it has been suggested would take the player on a short-term deal, are now the clear second favourites.

Moves to PSG and Inter Milan have been all but ruled out with the French and Italian giants now at odds of 12/1 and 14/1 respectively to sign the player this month.

However, the most likely of outcomes now appears to be that the striker will stay at Manchester City until the summer; this despite claims from Kia Joorabchian that Tevez and Roberto Mancini have never had a good working relationship.

The Italian, though, is dismayed by Joorabchian’s proclamations, retorting: “Carlos doesn’t have any problem with me”.

The 27-year-old is now being backed at odds-on prices to remain at the club past the closure of the January transfer window with betting exchange Betfair. Should he do so Mancini would be faced with a difficult dilemma about how best to reintegrate the South American into the club and the squad.
