Magpies to topple Swans

Swansea have yet to win on the road

Newcastle host Swansea on Saturday in a game that the home side will see as a good opportunity to get back to winning ways.

Brendon Rodgers takes his side to Tyneside knowing that his team have to improve on their horrid away form if they are to stay in the top flight beyond this season. A very impressive home record has yet to be matched away from the Liberty Stadium, having tasted defeat in five of their seven games so far. They have yet to win on the road, and lost on their last away day 4-2 at Blackburn in a game that the Swans feel they could have got something out of, had they kept 11 men on the pitch.

Playing host is a Newcastle side that has shocked many people who thought that they would be mid-table material at best. However, they came down to earth last week with a 4-2 defeat at Norwich, and have started to find injuries in the back-line, with Steven Taylor out long-term. They do, however, have a striker in Demba Ba who is in prime form, having netted 11 times already this season. The home side may have to lean on the Senegalese’s goals in order to beat Swansea, and this is something that he is very comfortable with, having been the only scorer for the Toon in four games this season.

With brittle defending a problem for Swansea on the road, I see Newcastle being able to score often against their opposition and Ba seems the man to do so yet again for the home side. To score anytime, he is 11/10 with Coral, which doesn’t represent real value. What jumps put are the odds for Ba to score two or more goals, which is available at a mouth-watering 5/1 with Betfred.

The Newcastle win seems the bet of the weekend, available at just under even money at 5/6 with Victor Chandler.
