Man City v Everton Betting Tips

another clean sheet looks a good bet at odds of 6/5

Manchester City lost their 100% record following a second-half collapse against Fulham last weekend and now entertain bogey team Everton at Eastlands this Saturday lunchtime.

Roberto Mancini has lost all four of his encounters with Everton since taking over at City and the Toffees have won seven of the last eight meetings between the sides.

It’s not a statistic that can be ignored yet it is one that we shouldn’t attach too much significance to. City have improved dramatically this season while Everton have been weakened by the loss of Mikel Arteta and are seriously lacking in firepower up front.

You won’t get rich backing City at the short 4/9 odds available with Bet365 but there is some value in the handicap markets. Man City -2 is available to back at odds of 47/20 in the Asian Handicap market, leading to a profit if the home side win by three or more and stakes returned if they win by two.

Mancini is expected to revert to a starting XI similar to the one that drew at Craven Cottage, having made wholesale changes for the midweek Carling Cup game. As ever his biggest decision will be who to start up front. Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero combined well last weekend but there is also the matter of Tuesday’s trip to Munich for Mancini to consider.

Louis Saha was again left out of Everton’s midweek squad and it is unclear whether he has a future at the club following his public criticisms of the management staff. Victor Anichebe is the only player currently utilising the Goodison Park treatment table.

For all the plaudits that Aguero, Dzeko and David Silva have rightly received a solid defensive unit has been equally as accountable for City’s recent up turn in form; specifically on their home patch. City have kept six clean sheets in their last seven home games and Joe Hart has yet to concede a Premier League home goal this season.

Taking into consideration the relative weakness of the Everton attack, another clean sheet looks a good bet at odds of 6/5, again with Bet365.
