Man Utd v Bolton betting preview

The home team will see this as a chance to get a relatively comfortable three points

Manchester United and Bolton Wanderers face off on Saturday with both teams under relatively intense pressure. The home team are coming off back-to-back defeats in the league against Blackburn and Newcastle, but slightly lifted the pressure with an FA cup win last weekend over their title rivals, Manchester City.

However, Sir Alex Ferguson will be looking to get back on track with a win against a Bolton side that are desperately short of quality, highlighted by the draw in the cup to League Two Macclesfield. The home team will see this as a chance to get a relatively comfortable three points before they have to face much tougher teams than the Wanderers.

Following their embarrassing 1-6 defeat by City in late October, United went on a run of keeping clean sheets and scraping results out by the tightest of margins. In their last two defeats in the league, they have been breached three times in both matches. A return to this winning formula, and a win to nil looks the most likely outcome.

Owen Coyle will be wondering where his next win will be coming from. Following this clash, they face Liverpool and Arsenal in successive games at home. This is where they have struggled mightily this season, collecting a meagre four out of a possible 30 points available at the Reebok.

Results away from home have been comparatively successful, gaining four victories away from the Reebok. Nevertheless, Coyle will go to Old Trafford knowing that his side need a miracle, or three, to come away with any kind of result. As a consequence, a tight contest, which could open up as the game lengthens, is expected. A 2-0 and a 3-0 win are best price 7/1 and 13/2 respectively, both with William Hill.
