Manchester United the invincibles?

175/1 that they do the quadruple

Sir Alex Ferguson remains understandably coy when pushed on the subject but this Manchester United side are increasingly attracting comparisons with some of the best in the club’s history.

After five Premier League games they have taken 15 points, scored 21 goals, conceded just four and emphatically dispatched Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea on home soil.

Their 3-1 win over Chelsea on Sunday forced bookmakers to slash odds on them retaining their Premier League title, Victor Chandler go as short as 8/13, leading many to question just how good this team is.

“Some of our football was terrific at times,” said Ferguson following the win against Chelsea.

Arsenal’s 2003-04 title-winning team is the only side to have gone through an entire Premier League season without losing and they were subsequently dubbed The Invincibles. Sky Bet are now offering odds of 16/1 that United emulate them by going through this entire season without losing a single game.

It is 175/1 that they do the Premier League, FA Cup, Carling Cup and Champions League quadruple this season and just 11/1 that they do the Premier League and Champions League double.
