Mourinho made favourite to replace under-fire Mancini

The Italian is still a 1/2 chance to keep his job

Jose Mourninho is made the 5/4 favourite to replace Roebrto Mancini at Manchester City by bookmaker Sky Bet. The firm offer odds of just 6/4 that Mancini is no longer in charge at the Etihad on the first day of next season after City’s title hopes were dashed by a 1-0 defeat at the Emirates.

The Italian is still a 1/2 chance to keep his job despite City slipping eight points behind Manchester United and drifting out to odds of 12/1 in the title race.

“We still expect Mancini to remain with City next season with the owners staying faithful throughout previous disappointments, but if Jose Mourinho were to become available that stance might well change,” said Sky Bet’s Chris Spicer.

“All-in-all it’s a remarkable collapse from City and we’re finding it difficult to see United letting the title slip given their trip to the Etihad Stadium is the only game which they won’t be strong favourites to win.”

Second favourite in the next Manchester City manager betting is Gus Hiddink at odds of 11/1, closely followed by Rafa Benitez, Martin O’Neill and Carlo Ancelotti all at 12/1.

City face West Brom at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday knowing that anything less than three points could see United claim the title as early as next weekend.
