Norwich v Sunderland Betting Preview

Back Under 2.5 goals @ 4/5 with Boylesports

A 4-0 home win over Stoke last weekend lifted the pressure on Sunderland manager Steve Bruce, but he’ll be back under the microscope if things don’t go to plan at Carrow Road this Monday evening.

Norwich also come into this game on the back of an impressive victory having picked up all three points from their trip to the Reebok Stadium last Saturday. It was the Canaries’ first Premier League win since their return to the top flight and sees them level with tonight's opponents on five points from as many games.

Paul Lambert has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the game with Zak Whitbread, Elliott Ward and Dani Ayala all missing through injury. The Norwich boss must also decide whether to recall last season’s top goalscorer Grant Holt having relegated him to the bench for last weekend’s win.

Sunderland are without Phil Bardsley as he serves the second of a four-game suspension. David Meyler, Craig Gordon and Fraizer Campbell are all still out as the trio continue to work their way back to fitness following lengthy lay-offs.

Solid away form is not something that you would typically associate with the Black Cats, however, if Bruce’s side can avoid defeat at Carrow Road it will be their longest unbeaten run – five games – since November 1999. Norwich are made the betting favourites at odds of 6/4 with Boylesports while Sunderland are 9/5 and the draw is 9/4.

Historically Sunderland versus Norwich games don’t produce many goals; nine of the last 12 meetings between the sides have finished with one goal or fewer.

John O’Shea’s move to Wearside is proving to be one of Bruce’s shrewdest pieces of business in the summer transfer market. In the two games that the former Manchester United defender has played for his new club they have kept a clean sheet.

Under 2.5 goals is available to back at 4/5, again with Boylesports, while Under 1.5 goals is a 15/8 chance.
