Odds-on Chelsea to get the job done

Fulham haven't scored against the Blues in their previous three attempts

Chelsea are looking for a return to winning ways, after successive Premier League draws, when they entertain Fulham this Boxing Day. The Blues sit in fourth after 1-1 stalemates against Wigan and Tottenham, but they will fancy their chances of getting three points on the board against a struggling Fulham side.

Andre Villas-Boas is still without long-term absentees Michael Essien and Joshua McEachran. John Obi Mikel and Branislav Ivanovic both picked up hamstring injuries at Tottenham and are unlikely to be ready by Boxing day. David Luiz remains a doubt but could be forced back to action due to Ivanovic's injury, otherwise Jose Bosingwa could have to play centre-back with Paulo Ferreira on the right.

Fulham were completely dominated last week by Manchester United so Martin Jol may well be forced to make changes to his line-up for this important derby match. Simon Davies has picked up an injury and is sidelined alongside keeper Mark Schwarzer and right-back Zdenek Grygera. Steve Sidwell however, may be back to full fitness and available for selection.

This West London derby appears to point emphatically to a home win, however there are big problems for Villas-Boas, not least in defence where he is fast running out of centre halves. So this may not be quite as straightforward as Chelsea would of hoped. Fulham were unfortunate to lose in the Carling Cup at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season so it could be another tight encounter, especially with Jol's side looking to bounce back from the 5-0 thrashing against United.

The last two matches between the sides have ended 0-0, with Chelsea winning the Carling Cup match on penalties. Fulham haven't scored against the Blues in their previous three attempts, while Chelsea have netted just once.

Chelsea need a win to remain in the race for the Premier League title, and with Fulham seriously struggling of late I think the Blues will take all three points.
