PSG take lead in race to sign Beckham

Sky Bet have shortened PSG in their David Beckham transfer betting market

Paris Saint-Germain are understood to have made an initial inquiry to sign midfielder David Beckham when his LA Galaxy contract expires alter this year.

The 36-year-old is out of contract when the MLS season ends this November and is understood to be looking for a move that excites him as his career draws to a conclusion. However, he has also not ruled out staying in Los Angeles.

The BBC today report that “PSG held a telephone conversation with Beckham’s representatives” although “formal talks have yet to take place”. While other clubs, including QPR and Tottenham, have noted their interest in the player the Parisian club are understood to be the first to make contact.

Consequently, Sky Bet have shortened PSG in their David Beckham transfer betting market making them the 10/11 favourites to sign the player in the January transfer window. QPR and Spurs are both priced at odds of 5/2 while Arsenal and Leicester are seen as 6/1 chances.

Beckham will make a decision following the end of LA Galaxy’s season. They currently have an unassailable lead at the top of the Western Conference table and are scheduled to play the first match of a two-legged semi final in late October. Should they progress then they would play the Conference final in early November then the MLS Cup final at the end of the month.
