QPR v Aston Villa Betting Tips

Joey Barton hasn't seen his team concede a goal this season

Aston Villa put their unbeaten record on the line when they travel to Loftus Road to take on Queens Park Rangers this Sunday afternoon.

Despite avoiding defeat in their opening five games Alex McLeish has yet to win over the Villa fans. Draws against Everton and Newcastle both came from winning positions and the Carling Cup loss at home to Bolton was met with a chorus of boos from those who had turned up at Villa Park. The Scotsman’s history won’t be forgotten in a hurry.

Conversely, fans at Loftus Road have plenty of reason to be cheerful. A plethora of deadline-day signings have settled in quickly and they’ve looked an exciting attacking unit in recent games against Wolves and Newcastle. Back-to-back clean sheets show that they’re also assured defensively.

Neil Warnock has no fresh injury concerns with Kieron Dyer and Jamie Mackie the only notable absentees.

Darren Bent and Emile Heskey are unavailable for The Villans but Jermaine Jenas is in contention to make his debut following his loan move from Tottenham on deadline day.

The home side go into this one as the strong betting favourites. Bet365 go as short as 11/10 about Rangers recording their first home win of the season, with the draw priced at 9/4 and a Villa win at 11/4.

At those prices the Match Odds market is probably one worth avoiding and better value can certainly be found in the goals betting markets.

Considering that QPR have yet to score a Premier League goal in front of their home fans this season, and Villa have only managed to find the net twice on their travels, Under 2.5 goals is an obvious selection at odds of 8/11 with Stan James.

There is also the interesting statistic that Joey Barton hasn’t seen his team concede a goal whilst he has been on the pitch in four games this season. You can get odds of 6/4 that QPR keep a clean sheet today.
