Redknapp odds slashed for England job

Redknapp is now odds-on at 10/11 to be named as Fabio Capello's successor

Paddy Power have slashed their odds on Harry Redknapp being the next England manager after the Tottenham boss was found not guilty in his tax evasion trial.

The Spurs manager had drifted out to odds of 15/8 with the Irish bookie, but is now odds-on at 10/11 to be named as Fabio Capello’s successor.

“This case was seemingly the only thing that might prevent Harry taking over from Fabio as England manager. Now he is not guilty the clamour for Harry to be given ‘the second most important job in England’ will be enormous,” said Darren Haines of Paddy Power.

Both Redknapp and former Portsmouth Chairman Milan Mandric were cleared of any wrongdoing regarding a payment made to a Monaco bank account that the prosecution claim was made in order to avoid paying taxes.

The Tottenham players have been without their manager for the best part of two weeks now and Redknapp even missed the goalless draw at Anfield on Monday night when his flight was delayed. He will, however, return to the dugout for this Saturday’s game at home to Newcastle, and the Lilywhites are a 1/2 chance to return to winning ways.
