Reds made favourites to maintain winning sequence

Dalglish will need to reshuffle his pack

Liverpool take their sparkling away form to Craven Cottage this Monday night to take on a Fulham side that have failed to score in six of their last eight Premier League games against The Reds.

Kenny Dalglish’s side have won their last six games on the road in all competitions and there last three in the Premier League. Victory here, depending on the margin, could move them up to fifth place in the table and just two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

Fulham, on the other hand, have yet to get going at all this season. Their typically dependable home form has deserted them under the guidance of Martin Jol and they aren’t picking up many points on the road either. So far this season they’ve earned just three points, and won only once, in their six home league fixtures.

The Cottagers are without Simon Davies who is still a couple of weeks away from a return, while Damien Duff is also unlikely to feature due to a calf injury. Moussa Dembele, Clint Dempsey and Bryan Ruiz could all, however, return to the side.

Dalglish will need to reshuffle his pack following the crushing news that midfielder Lucas would miss the remainder of the season. The Brazilian had been the backbone of his side’s impressive start to the season and will be sorely missed. Steven Gerrard is still unfit so Jay Spearing is expected to slot into the starting XI.

While Liverpool have looked every inch as good a side as the teams around them in the big games, they have faltered against those jostling for position further down the table.  And that could make the difference between a top-four finish and a Europa League berth come the end of the season.

Liverpool’s recent away form makes them worthy favourites to pick up all three points here. But at betting odds of 11/10 there is better value to be had in other areas.

As mentioned in the opening gambit The Cottagers have struggled to find a way past Liverpool’s defence in recent seasons, and aside from an uncharacteristic 6-0 thrashing of QPR they have faltered to find the net at all this campaign. Disregarding that anomaly against Rangers they have scored just nine goals in 12 Premier League games and only five in five at home.
