Robin van Persie Transfer Betting

Manchester City are currently the 12/1 favourites

Arsenal captain Robin van Persie has said that now is not the time for him to discuss a new contract at the club sparking speculation that he could leave the club and consequential interest in the related transfer betting markets.

The Dutchman still has two years remaining on his existing contract and believes that mid-season is not the time to discuss his long-term future. But the recent departure of Samir Nasri following a similar stance regarding his own contract has led many to question Van Persie’s commitment.

“I do believe you have to look for a right moment to sit down and speak about your own stuff,” said Van Persie.

“I don't think it's clever to do that during the season. It's not only about me, it's about the team. We are not talking now because we are so busy - we have games every three or four days.

“I still have almost two years left here, so for the moment that's fine. But I don't know, we will have to look.

“I'm happy with my contract, I'm good. That's how it is, I can't say much more. I can't look into the future.”

Although it is highly unlikely that the 28-year-old would leave the Emirates this January there are now betting markets available on that eventuality.

Manchester City are currently the 12/1 favourites in Sky Bet’s Robin van Persie January transfer betting market. Odds of 16/1 can be backed for the player to move to Chelsea or to Manchester United in the new year and a move to Real Madrid and Barcelona is priced at 25/1.
