Samba odds-on for move to Rangers

Steve Kean is determined not to let the player leave

Sky Bet make Queens Park Rangers their 2/7 favourites to sign Christopher Samba after it was revealed that the Blackburn defender handed in a transfer request.

Speculation regarding the 27-year-old’s future arose last weekend when he missed the game against Fulham due to illness, this following an interview with L’Equipe in which the player hinted that he was ready to leave Ewood Park.

However, Steve Kean is determined not to let the player leave and has stressed that the former Congo international will not be sold.

“He's not for sale, it's as simple as that,” said the Rovers boss.

“He'll be back in again and hopefully ready for Everton.”

The then Blackburn manager Mark Hughes brought Samba to Lancashire from Hertha Berlin in 2008. And now that Hughes has taken over at QPR bookmaker Sky Bet believes that the pair are about to be reacquainted.

The bookmaker originally priced the Loftus Road club at odds of 4/6 following news of the transfer request, but has now been forced to shorten those odds to 2/7 following plenty of interest at bigger prices.

Others considered to be in the running include Tottenham (5/2), PSG (5/1), Sunderland (6/1) and Manchester City (10/1).
