Stoke v Bolton Betting Odds

It could be a tight affair with a draw looking like good value at 9/4 and under 2.5 goals coming in at around 4/6.

Despite its reputation as being the loudest and one of the toughest places to travel to in the Premier League, The Britannia Stadium has been far from a fortress for Stoke this season.

Their form has been very mixed at home having won five games but having lost four. They have had some impressive victories over Everton, Liverpool and Aston Villa but this has been contrasted by defeats to Blackpool and Fulham.

Tony Pulis's side currently sit 11th in the table after a slow start to the campaign. The Potters uninspiring 1-1 draw with Cardiff in the FA Cup last week summed up the kind of performances that have been seen at the Britannia of late whilst Bolton left it late to secure a 2-0 victory over non-league York City.

The league is extremely tight with just nine points separating Bolton and the relegation zone and three points separating them from Stoke. One advantage for Pulis is that he almost has a completely fit squad to choose from. The Potters still have forward Mamady Sidibe missing with an Achilles injury, the Malian is expected to return at the end of January.

Owen Coyle's Bolton have lost their last four matches away from the Reebok with their home form helping them maintain their top half status. They will be looking to stop this losing streak at the Britannia on Saturday. Coyle's men have been praised for their passing style of football this season and Stoke will be out to stop them playing. The Trotters' attempts to lure Arsenal's Mexican youngster Carlos Vela on loan would bring an extra dimension to Bolton's attacking line up should they be successful in their bid.

The visitors will be hoping to have Ricardo Gardner back following his knee injury whilst impressive American midfielder Stuart Holden comes back into contention following a thigh injury. Gretar Steinsson, Jlloyd Samuel and Joey O'Brien are all in contention after recovering from injury but Korean midfielder Chung Yong-Lee is away at the Asian Cup.

In the first clash between these two sides in October Ivan Klasnic stole all three points in injury time at the Reebok. The bookies lean towards a Stoke victory at 11/10, with Bolton being 12/5. It could be a tight affair with a draw looking like good value at 9/4 and under 2.5 goals coming in at around 4/6.

In the first goal scorer market 13/2 on Johan Elmander represents good value considering the Swede is having a much improved season at the Reebok. For Stoke, Matthew Etherington's vicious left foot at 12/1 to score first is very tempting indeed.

This should be a closely fought affair where Bolton may tread slightly more cautiously given their recent away record, and with Stoke's shrewd tactical approach this one has a draw written all over it.
